LIVE From the RRS Sir David Attenborough

Lesson Info

Mon 11 March, 2024 • 1:45 pm - 2:30 pm
Students from Wirral's Eco Council will be putting their questions to scientists Emily Rowlands, Sophie Fielding and Flo Atherden who are all working for the British Antarctic Survey studying the impact of climate change on the polar regions. Hear their amazing stories of living and working onboard the fantastic research Ship The Sir David Attenborough as well as getting an insight into their research and what they are witnessing in terms of environmental impact from global warming. As well as the live link to the ship, we will also hear from John Drummond who was the Project Director during the ship's construction at Cammell Laird Shiprepairers and Shipbuilders in Birkenhead on the Wirral peninsula. John will guide us around a virtual tour of the impressive vessel and tell us about the engineering phases leading from the testing of models and 3D CAD design all the way through to the ship's launch.
