- What does science look like beyond the classroom? - How can a career help protect wildlife on a global scale? - What does it take to work in wildlife conservation? All these questions will be answered in our next exclusive Live Lesson that takes students behind the scenes to explore the amazing careers protecting wildlife and wild places - both at the zoo and beyond. Taking place on 3rd March it’s perfectly timed to celebrate World Wildlife Day. It also sits neatly into Careers Week and ahead of British Science Week to get your pupils truly inspired.

Curriculum Focus

Science:

Living Things & their Habitats

KS1 - identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other

Animals, including humans

KS1 - identify and name a variety of common animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores
KS1 - find out about and describe the basic needs of animals, including humans, for survival (water, food and air)
KS2 - identify that animals, including humans, need the right types and amount of nutrition, and that they cannot make their own food; they get nutrition from what they eat
KS2 - identify that humans and some other animals have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement.

Whether students dream of working with animals, protecting habitats or tackling climate and biodiversity challenges, this live lesson helps students see how their interests can grow into a meaningful future protecting nature.
